This afternoon was
devoted to Van Gogh near Saint Remy. First we visited the Trinquetaille Bridge
that inspired the painting.
The St Paul Monastery and (mental)
hospital is where Van Gogh spent a year recovering from his breakdown from a
combination of being bipolar, not eating enough, drinking too much, epilepsy
and possibly syphilis. He produced over 100 paintings that year as part of his
art therapy.
We were given a short time to wander around St Remy. We loved this quirky carousel and the enjoyment it provided to young children.
