At Kibbutz El Rom, we were shown a terrifying video depicting the attack by Syria's superior tank fleet (e.g., used night vision) against the greatly outnumbered Israeli tanks during the Yom Kippur war in 1973. The only reason Israel prevailed was because they knew all would be lost if they surrendered. The Valley of Tears Memorial was created to commemorate this battle.
