North of Bogota in Zipaquira we wound through numerous salt tunnels and past carvings representing the Stations of the Cross to visit the Cathedral of Salt which is dedicated to "Our Lady of the Rosary" patron saint of miners. Salt miners carved the first sanctuary around 1932 and finished a larger project in 1954. An even larger and safer cathedral was constructed 200 feet below the original.
We stopped in Zipaquira for lunch and a little schnauzer love.
