St Petersburg - Metro and Peterhof

We travelled part of the way to Peterhof by Metro. We weren't allowed to take pictures, so I downloaded one from the Blog of Minnie Ball who was approached by the police after she took this picture. I am not sure we were in this station but the two we saw were beautiful in a similar style. I would have liked to visit many more stations.
Peterhof was built by Peter the Great. It is set on 300 acres and overlooks the Gulf of Finland. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fountains were the highlight for me.

Of course, there were beautiful things to be seen inside the palace including mosaics, tapestries, carvings, gold statues, and paintings (Catherine the Great on horseback as she assumes leadership of Russia).
